In light of the anxiety-inducing pandemic and resulting quarantine that we are all living through right now, I thought it might be helpful to share a few natural things that I’ve learned help me deal with my anxiety. I cannot take anti-depressants – I also happen to think they do far more harm than good, but that’s a story for another day – so I’ve spent the greater part of my adult life looking for my own remedies. Through lots of trial and error, I have finally come up with some things that work, and once you’re on the other side it is easy to see that NO, it is not normal to be freaked out all the time.
This will be part one in what I hope will be a few posts on the different things that work for me. No promises though because #pandemic and #workingfromhome and #twosmallkids.
*DISCLAIMER: I feel it necessary to point out that I am NOT a doctor – thank God – and if you’re on medications, don’t be an idiot and stop them or anything like that. This is in NO way medical advice, and if you have any questions, TALK TO YOUR DAMN DOCTOR or Momma, or know-it-all friend or whoever, this is my personal experience.
There are several remedies that are really important to maintaining my sanity, but I am starting with the heavy hitter first in case I don’t get to the rest. And that my friends, is CBD Oil. I am going to use the words “life-changing” here.
There are a million things that it is good for… inflammation, sleep, joint pain, etc. but where it really helps me is easing anxiety.
I first started taking CBD Oil regularly about a year ago and at this point I will not go a day without it. The oil itself is not addictive, but to me the results absolutely are. If I forget to take it in the morning, I am a ball of nerves ready to scream at everyone by lunch time. I remember, take it, and VOILA! I’m back to being able to deal with annoyances without flying into a murderous rage within an hour or so.
A few important things to note:
You want CBD Oil, NOT “hemp oil”. You will be tempted to buy Hemp Oil off of Amazon because it is cheaper. Do not do this. It doesn’t work in any way like actual CBD Oil. Trust me, if I believed in it and thought you could get it delivered via Prime, I would toss one of my Amazon Affiliate links in here for you all to buy from so fast, but the simple fact is it doesn’t work. It’s not the same parts of the plant and you will be wasting your money and calling me a liar. CBD OIL, not hemp oil, don’t cheap out.
You can get CBD Oil lots of places now. I get mine from a smoke shop across the street from my house. There are lots of different kinds and lots of different flavors. The kind I get is called Hemp Bombs and I usually get the watermelon flavor. They were out of that last time so I got the Peppermint. It is decent but I like the watermelon better. This particular brand also doesn’t have a marijuana taste or smell, where some of them do. The kind I get is 1000 mg (I think they also have a 600 mg version), it is 3 oz and it’s $100. I know. It’s expensive. But TRUST ME, it is worth every penny and with the dose I take it lasts between 4-6 weeks.
The recommended dose is 1 or 2 droppers full a day. I take 1/4 – 1/2 a dropper full in the a.m. and that’s it. I’ll spare you the details, but any more than that does not do good things to my stomach.
You will have to experiment a bit to find the right brand, flavor, and dose for you. CBD Oil does not make you “high”, it does not make you sleepy, although it does help you sleep better, it just makes you feel normal. If you are living with anxiety, believe me when I say that you won’t realize how much you were actually suffering until you don’t feel that way anymore.
If you have questions leave them below or message me on Insta – would love to know if this actually helps someone! Y’all stay safe, stay inside, and we’ll make it through this thing before we know it…
